Newsletter >> Dynamically Populated Sections

Hello Timely!

I'd like to share an idea I had today for the newsletter feature that I didn't see as having been already outlined, which would be to include "sections" of the newsletter that could be populated dynamically with groups of filtered events.

Example:

Let's say for example that at the top of our newsletter, we wanted to display "x" number of upcoming "featured" events over the next "y" duration (days, weeks, etc.), and one or more separate filtered lists of events lower in the newsletter.

In order to accomplish this, there would need to be multiple "sections" of the newsletter, with access to filters that would only apply to and populate their respective "section".

For example, the top "section" could be filtered to display only a certain number of events with a specific tag, over a defined date range, such as "featured" events:

tag: Featured
date range: next 7 days
# of events: 5

Beneath this top/featured section, we might have another section to display upcoming events in a certain category:

category: Business
date range: next 7 days
# of events: 10

Perhaps a third section could be added beneath, with a list of all upcoming events. The only filter here would be to include "all" upcoming events. Being able to exclude certain tags/categories would also be useful here, as to not list any events that may have been listed above in the previous "sections".

---

While the example above is fairly specific, I hope I've effectively communicated the overall idea of being able to create "sections" of the newsletter that are dynamically populated, based on filters and date ranges.

---

I understand this may require a good amount of development, but I believe this would make the newsletter feature *much* more dynamic and would allow calendars to easily place featured events in a standout area (top of newsletter), while still populating the newsletter with non-featured events or groupings of events based on category, tag or other pre-defined filters.

I also imagine that this would prove to be a highly useful selling tool for calendars looking to increase paid/featured events and would in turn provide a great deal of value to those paying calendars for featured events.

Thank you for your consideration!

-Brian

Hello Brian! Thanks for raising this idea.

We are currently implementing some improvements in the app and we're definitely taking this in consideration for newsletters.

We'll keep you updated about the development and release of it.

    Thanks,
    Timely Dev Team
