Hosted calendar: Frontend submission form - "Please enter a valid Website URL." error message

User: "I got the Front End Submissions form to work however I'm running into a problem. We are having people submit events via Front End Submissions to our website, but in the website field they are typing for example and then they go to submit and it says that the website is incorrect."

    After trying all possible combinations to reproduce this bug we realised that user is entering Physical address in the fields for Ticketing URL (See the original screenshot).

    This field is designed for URL address, not a location address, and it requires the protocol part of the link (http/https) to be specified. So it just throws an error because it’s not a valid URL. Placeholder is highly descriptive there, even saying that user is required to add the protocol. So I suppose it’s a user’s mistake.

    My problem is the people that fill out the front end submissions form DON'T know that they need to type the "http://" in front of the website's "www" portion and then when they go to submit it it says "error website entered wrong" and they get confused becuase it doesn't correct them. It doesn't tell them that they need to put the "http://" in front of the website and if you are not a web developer or do not know anything about web, then you would never know to do that.

    Whiteny Lebsock makes a very good point and should be a discussion for another topic.

    In this case here, which happened to couple of people that actually called me for help they did put in the http:// and they still received the error. 

    But I agree with Whitney.

    From a person that has had this ACTUALLY HAPPEN and CONFIRMED it happening, the person, nor myself was NOT adding a "Physical address". No disrespect meant, but I am not sure how someone would come to that conclusion?

    The person entering their event and I confirmed it, actually placed in a valid URL http://www............ etc. 

    It's OK that you could not duplicate the bug, log it as unsolved. But KNOWN PROBLEM.

    Its NOT OK to Hypothesize what happened when it was VERY CLEAR and proven as a FACT as to what happen. The Screen Shot attached didn't LIE. Geez!

    You screenshot definitely doesn't lie, but it shows user entered "17635 Cypress Fields Ave" instead or a Registration URL. The error is for that field, not for the one above it (website URL).

    I wrote in with the same problem- physical address in the registration ticket URL field. However, I would raise a concern about the error message: It says please enter a valid URL, so we kept tweeking the URL website field with and without the http prefix. Right now, once you erroneously fill in the ticketing URL field with a physical address, there is no easy user way to know what/where to fix. They look at their correct physical address and have no "USER CLUE" that, while their physical address is correct, it is in the incorrect field.

    Suggestion here would be to put a description of what you want in the field above the field. This way, when it asks for an appropriate URL, the user looks to correct fields that call for a URL (website and ticketing).

    Further confusion came from the fact that the fields that were highlighted (presumably in association with the error) were the phone number and email fields.
